Different Types of Countertops / Materials
Carolina Countertops offers different types of materials including granite, marble, soapstone, quartz and quartzite. We work with some of the largest granite yards in the country and with a large variety of quartz distributors, therefore we are able to offer amazing selection of these products to you.
Granite and marble are natural stones and their slabs are typically flat and polished which are available in a variety of color and patterns. You can find granite in solid colors to very exotic with movement and variety in the slab. Today people are also choosing leathered and honed granite and marble which have a texture and more matte finish.
Quartz is a mix of crushed quartz and resin with a more uniform appearance, however they are now starting to mimic quartz with more movement. It is becoming more and more popular and Carolina Countertops is able to carry more brands…just ask! Here are just a few of different types of countertops brands we carry: Cambria, CeasarStone, Silestone, Cosmos, HanStone, DuPont-Zodiaq, Dal Tile/One Quartz, Triton, LG Hauseys/Hi-Macs. We also offer many eco-friendly and recycled materials as well including: Dekton, Eco, and Geos Recycled glass surfaces.

Granite is a natural stone not mixed with any type of resin or chemicals. Granite comes in a variety of colors and often has veining or movement. Granite is a very durable material and is resistant to scratches, heat and stains, however is porous and does require sealing. Avoid acids such as vinegar, wine, chemicals, oils and clean with warm soapy water.
Marble is also a natural stone with beautiful veining such as with popular Carrara and Calacutta. Marble is more porous than granite and should have a quality sealer to prevent staining. Because the minerals that compose marble are sensitive to certain chemical agents, it is important to wipe spills away quickly.
Gaining popularity, quartz is a tough non-porous man-made material made of approximately 95% ground quartz to 5% resin and pigments. Quartz offers a great deal of variety in colors and patterns. Quartz is extremely low-maintenance and one of the hardest substances. It typically doesn't need to be sealed but is often higher in price.
